itsu [ grocery ], where this role sits, extends the much-loved itsu brand beyond our shops and into supermarkets, health food retailers, online channels, wholesale partners, and international markets. Our growing product range includes customer favourites such as crispy seaweed thins, frozen gyoza and bao, brilliant'broth, rice'noodles, and miso'easy, bringing the taste and quality of itsu into homes around the world.

About the role:

As an Assistant Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records while supporting the wider finance team in delivering timely and insightful reporting.

• Prepare and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts, identifying and escalating any risks or discrepancies.
• Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with UK and international tax requirements.
• Assist with import duty accounting and maintain accurate financial records relating to customs and duty payments.
• Support year-end audits by preparing documentation, responding to auditor queries, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Key Role Responsibilities:

• Review payroll transactions, analyse variances against budgets, and post relevant month-end journals.
• Maintain financial controls, accounting policies, and data integrity within finance systems.
• Review employee expense claims to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Provide support across accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment runs, account reconciliations, and resolving supplier queries.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Broad experience in a variety of finance roles, ideally from a product-led or FMCG business
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and uses and builds processes, controls and structure.
• Detail-oriented and collaborative, with the confidence to influence stakeholders
• Intermediate or advanced excel skills are desirable
• Ability to work within tight time frames
• Sage experience preferrable
